Tea for Two!

My mom has been wanting to have a tea party with Molli FOREVER!  They finally got to spend some quality time together this afternoon at Teacups and Tiaras in Valley Junction.  Molls got dressed-up in a pretty dress and got her purse all ready for when Nanie came to pick her up!  The two ladies had a fabulous lunch with a little shopping afterward.

So pretty

Bunkin' it up!

"Auntie Izzi and Auntie Livvi have a bunk bed.  Can we get a bunk bed too?" says Max.

When Max was ready for a 'big boy bed', we decided to purchase a bunk bed, knowing Molli would eventually need a 'big girl bed', and they would probably be sharing a room one day.  I wanted to get a bunk bed that could also be used as 2 separate beds.  When Max and Molli moved into the same room last summer, we kept the beds separate.  Max wasn't old enough to sleep on the top yet.

Mike has been looking for a 'project' to do, so I thought this would be perfect!  Max asked if we could make their beds bunk beds and we decided to go ahead and try it out!  A perfect Saturday afternoon of family bonding!

Miley hung out on the bed!  A lot safer than on the floor with screws and boards.

Dad is almost done!

The finished product

So far, things are going well:)  Molli was mad at first that she couldn't sleep on the top, but she can't get up and down the ladder by herself.  This new sleeping arrangement HAS helped with the goofing around the kids usually do at bedtime, thank goodness!

Red, White, and Blue

Happy Birthday to the United States of America!
That was the easiest way to explain the recent holiday weekend to the kids.  We began our weekend with red, white, and blue sprinkled doughnies (what the kids call doughnuts) from Dahl's!  This has become a regular Saturday morning ritual for our family:)  We relaxed all day at home in preparation for the West Des Moines parade later that night.  The parade started at 5:30, so we packed a picnic dinner to eat while we waited for it to begin.  Mike's sister, Meg, lives close to the parade route.  We parked at her house and walked with them to our spot, which her husband John so graciously saved earlier in the day!  The kids LOVED getting candy, seeing the fire trucks, getting stickers, and of course eating their candy!

The 4th was a very low key day for the kids and I.  The weather was cruddy, so we just stayed in, played a board game, played video games, and watched a movie.  Mike was gone all day playing in the annual "Young Open" golf tournament.  This year, the "Young Open" partnered with "Children's Cancer Connection."  They were able to raise A LOT of money for this charity, so I think everyone would agree that it was a successful day on the course:)  We finished our day with dinner at Mike's parent's.  Usually we can see fireworks from their house, but the darn weather wasn't cooperating.  No fireworks this year:(

We enjoyed having daddy at home with us on the day of observance!  The video games got to be turned on before lunch!!  Mom's rule is no video games until after lunch.  Daddy said it was a special day, so we could!!  We hung out with the Dohrmann clan for the afternoon and evening, and that concluded our holiday weekend!

We hope everyone had a FUN AND SAFE Fourth of July!!!!!

Can you do this?

Miley puts everything in her mouth.......I mean, EVERYTHING!!!

Jumping Bean

Since little peanut is not so 'little' anymore, it was time to whip out Nanie's jumperoo.  Miley thought she'd try it out for the first time in style!

A Day at Nanie's

We love going over to Nanie and Papa's house to play (and eat lunch, and get our hair cut/colored, and swim, and chase the kitty, and eat special treats!).  It's always busy at Nanie's house!

Papa came home for lunch.  He was feeling a little 'clever' in the picture taking moment!
Out of order, but you get the idea:)
