A first in our house
All of the kiddos LOVE to color. But none have done anything like this in our house, until now. Miss Miley took it upon herself to add some color to the walls in the kitchen! I guess she's not the only one who's tired of the boring color:) I happened to be right outside those windows, cleaning them when she did this. I had no idea what she was up to. GAH! I was set to have a clothing party that night with many guests and was freaking out, thinking I'd have to get one of my sample paint cans out and paint the whole wall. I tried a little water and paper towel first and:
VOILA!!!! It came off beautifully! There is still a 'hint' of blue on the wall, but you really have to search for it to see it. No worries, because someday soon those walls will be painted!
My life: paint swatches and samples
Since moving into our house, I've been so anxious to paint the main floor. I couldn't decide what color scheme to do and where to start and stop the colors. Should I go completely different than the other house? Should I paint the kitchen the same color as the entry? What colors would go good with oak trim (which I dislike and REALLY want white or cream like we had at the other house)? I've been so different this time around with picking colors. The last house, we just bought a gallon of what we liked, just by looking at the paint swatch. Now, I'm spending $5+ on multiple paint sample cans and painting different strokes of different colors around the rooms, to see what the colors look like in different lighting. Maybe it's because I feel like we'll be in this house for a very long time and I just want to get it right. I don't know what my deal is! Mike keeps telling me, "just go buy a gallon and DO IT!!" That's what I need to do!
You can see my color madness here:
Sorry, the pics aren't of the best quality. But you get the idea of the craziness! It seems as though I'm trending towards colors that were similar to those at the last house; greens/browns/oranges/yellows. I think I've figured out the kitchen and entry. Still working on the living room and dining room. That's ok - we still need furniture for those rooms anyway!!!
Like the hubby says: "just DO it."

Molli Magoo's Turn
....to start school!!
Molli just completed her first week of 4 year old preschool at Sacred Heart. She was more than ready to get into the classroom, especially since her brother had already been going for almost two weeks! With the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Molls only had three days of school this week. She was pretty sad about that. Typically she will be at school four mornings a week. She gets to ride to school with Max and Dad because she starts shortly after Max, and she's loving that! Molli has the same teacher and classroom that Max had last year, so she's very familiar with her surroundings and what she will be doing during the school year.
Where are my 'little' kiddos going?!

KINDERGARTEN
Wow. I can't believe this day has come. Our Max is officially in Kindergarten! He was very excited to start school this year. There were so many things to look forward to at the 'big school': recess, gym class, lunch, library, being with cousins, going to mommy's school, new friends, and being there ALL DAY!
The whole family took Max to school on his first day. We gathered on the playground and saw many familiar faces - friends from last year, cousins, and teachers that mommy had! Max was a little overwhelmed with all of the people (mom too!) and got a little shy, but he stayed strong! When the bell rang, Max got lined up and we all walked into the classroom. He hung up his backpack and found his seat. He found out that he sits at the same table as a close friend from preschool last year! We stayed for the morning prayer and then said our goodbyes! I was a bit teary-eyed, but seeing my buddy so strong helped ease my uncertainties.
Max feels so proud to be in Kindergarten. We have to pull information out of him at the end of the day about what he did at school, but that is typical of Max! Once he gets started though, he is full of stories. He seems to really be enjoying it. We knew he would:)

Living with Nature
Our family has recently been watching a nest of baby Robins on our front porch. The momma conveniently made her nest in one of our hanging ferns outside our front window. I was too scared to get close enough to water the plant, so it hung there and slowly died. But the life inside it was growing!!! Three babies hatched and it was so fun to watch the momma come and feed them throughout the day, their long necks stretching to get food! Within about a week, they were out of the nest, flying off to start a new home somewhere else:( They got big SO FAST! The kids and I miss peeking out the window to watch them everyday.
